SDX breathing control system uses a ‘voluntary Deep Inspiration Breath-Hold’ (DIBH) gating technique for further optimization of treatment for a.o. breast, liver and lung cancer.
The SDX system is equipped with a spirometer through which the patient breathes with the aid of a mouthpiece and anti-bacterial filter. For the purposes of hygiene, each patient uses a new mouthpiece and filter. The spirometer is also easy to decontaminate.
Video goggles provide the patient a visual representation of the breathing curve. In this way he or she is involved in the process and is it easier to repeat the same inspiration every time.
Advantages
- better patient comfort → voluntary breath-hold method is less stressful and more feasible
- by taking into account the patient’s capacities reproducible results are obtained both during simulation and during treatment
- not location-bound → easy transport between simulation and treatment room (trolley)
